For
Ukrainians the vyshyvanka is a national embroidered shirt as well as a
talisman, according to national beliefs. Our ancestors believed that special
clothes may protect a person from evil forces. These clothes also reflect the
particularity and different techniques of every region in Ukraine, for example
it concerns coloring embroidery floss and threads using bark, leaves, flowers,
nature symbols, different pattern and colors distinguishing one region from another.
